An Interesting Island Exploration in Southeast Asia

Pulau Ubin Island, Singapore –

It’s been a while since my last post, I have been very busy sinking my teeth into the heart of southeast Asia. Also, took a break to get my PADI scuba diving certification. I’ll write more about that in my upcoming post about the Perhentian Islands. I am blogging from my comfortable hotel with fast wifi in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hot water and wifi are something I haven’t had for about a week now. I am thoroughly enjoying my trip so far. A few road bumps here and there (had to replace my iPhone screen twice already), but I have some amazing pictures and videos to share and a BIG announcement coming up in my next post. Also, I have been diligently recording every dollar I spend on this trip and I will be adding this information to my blog posts in the near future so stay tuned!

Pulau Ubin in a small island in between Singapore and Indonesia but it is considered part of Singapore. A quick ferry ride from the coast of the mainland and you are on this enchanting little piece of land. As you can see from my previous post, Singapore is a modern city. The locals describe Pulau Ubin as going back in time to what Singapore was like 50 years ago. This is really what intrigued me to take an afternoon to explore this island. Upon arriving from the short ferry ride you are greeted by a young woman and her father renting bicycles. They explain that this is the best way to explore the island and give you some of the highlights that you should not miss. Both of these suggestions were not my favorite parts of the island as they were both viewpoints which I didn’t find all that spectacular. My highlights were the large family of monkeys I saw climbing above me only five minutes in to my ride (video is posted on my youtube channel), getting the shit scared out of me by a big, black, wild pig when I went of the main trail, and of course my first ever experience to an Asian temple.

As usual, I’ll let the pics and videos speak for themselves…
